With hands-on experience and qualifications in Fine Art (Bachelor of Arts, Visual Art (Honours)), Drawing, Painting, Illustration, Design and Project Management, Donna Saunders is continually practicing and developing skills for personal projects, illustrations and artwork requests. When time permits, endeavours to support and contribute to local community initiatives or work with other artists and groups. Stories and artworks are a study of the everyday human experience, inspired by work, travel, impacts of contemporary events, connection to community and the environment. Observations are made from sketches, a sitter, from memory and/or the aid of photographs. Donna’s style contains parallels to that of fauvist, expressionist and post-impressionist artists, distorting and abstracting the subject with elements of realism. Illustrations are almost always based on pets and animals, composed of colourful mixed media and watercolour paintings, constructed on a variety of different paper types and finished designs digitally manipulated.
