I’m Danielle, a graduate of Sydney College of the Arts. I grew up in Fiji, where my childhood often influences the art I make today, particularly with themes of nature and surreal imagination. I migrated to Australia in 2004 and began taking art throughout my education. Since then I’ve worked in an art gallery called Galleryeight, designed for a creative company called TMOD and have done freelance illustration. My art style is quite fluid, it changes as I grow. Its only commonality is that I tend to create portraits of women, and work with the subject matter of the relation of people to nature. I’m influenced by adventure fantasy stories, Shaun Tan, natural science, other contemporary artists and of course, the world around me. My works are mainly for myself; they’re like an extension of my vocabulary, a way for me to speak and reach out to others.
