Rachel Tribout grew up in France, where she studied illustration and graphic design. Much like her children’s book character Captain Blueberry, she then travelled to faraway Hobart, Tasmania, where she currently works as a freelance illustrator, collaborating with design studios bringing her unique sense of fun to their commercial and cultural projects.
Rachel’s passion for illustration has extended beyond the coloured page – she has mentored budding illustrators in the Adobe Mentorship Program, served as state councillor in the Australian Graphic Design Association and co-directed boutique graphic festivals. Her love of folk tales was set alight by the Tasmanian wilderness, inspiring her to create two well-loved children’s books (The Monsters of Tasmania, 2014, and The Journey of Admiral Bolognaise, 2016). Recently she has been touring in China and Japan, performing live drawings in a children’s theatre show called “You and Me and the Space B with Terrapin Puppet Theatre.
