Sarah Cook is a performance and visual artist based in Mparntwe/Alice Springs on Arrernte country in Central Australia. She has a Bachelor of Performing Arts and a Master of International and Community Development. Over the past twenty years, she has shared her passion for social justice through her vibrant performances and chalk art with Indigenous communities in Central Australia and Arnhem land as well as India, Madagascar and Costa Rica. Accomplished in drawing and painting in traditional mediums, Sarah now specialises in digital illustration, using Procreate. She collaborates with local First Nations women to bring to the forefront Indigenous knowledges and representation. She is currently working with Tangentyere Women’s Family Safety Group on the ‘Girls Can Boys Can’ gender equality project for primary prevention of gendered violence. This co–designed project uses Sarah’s illustrations for learning resources in early-childhood education, including a children’s picture book to be released December 2021.
