We are thrilled to open for submissions for the 2020 ASA Style File illustration Award Mentorships.
Thanks to a grant from the Copyright Agency Cultural Fund, we are able to offer mentorships exclusively for illustrators’ portfolios or picture book projects:
- 5 winners will receive free illustration mentorships for either their portfolio or picture book projects, valued at $540
- In addition, the winners will receive a free copy of the ASA’s Trade Publishing Agreement for Illustrators to help them pursue their publishing goals with confidence.
This is open to any illustrator seeking to improve their professional portfolio or for guidance on their picture book illustration project.
The 5 winners will work closely with a mentor selected from the ASA Mentors’ Register for 3 hours, including assessment time.
Key Dates
- Entries open 7 September 2020, 9am AEST.
- Entries close 12 October 2020, 9am AEDT (extended from 2 October 2020, 5pm AEST).
- Winners will be announced 28 October 2020.
Entry Fee

Non-members may enter but must pay an administration fee of $45 (inc GST) per entry.
Submission requirements
1. Entries must be submitted via the online entry form with the following two files attached:
a) A 300-word statement, which includes:
- A brief description of your portfolio or picture book project, including its current stage of progress.
- What you would like to achieve through the mentorship program.
- A brief illustrator CV.
b) Your Portfolio: maximum 20 images OR your Picture Book Project: please enter your images into the blank flatplan template here.
2. All files must be submitted in Word or PDF format.
3. Entries must comply with the Terms and Conditions.
